Urgent Action Needed!

We need your help to make sure the Menendez amendment becomes part of the final Lieberman- Warner bill. Please call your Senator's office today and ask them to support the Menendez Amendment to increase funding for the International Climate Change Adaptation and National Security Program.

To make it easier, we've written out four simple steps to make your call as effective as possible.

1. Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
2. Ask for one of your senator's offices. If you don't know the names of your senators, tell the operator what state you live in and that you'd like to be connected with one of your senators.
3. Once connected, tell the person who answers that you are a constituent. Give him or her your name and address. Ask them to tell the senator the following: Please support the Menendez amendment on "International Adaptation" to the Climate Security Act. Instead of giving away greenhouse gas permits for free to major oil companies, we should shift those permits to increase funding to help poor countries around the world adapt to climate change.
4. Once you are finished, hang up and repeat the instructions for your other senator. Then let us know what they said.

As the Senate prepares to debate the Climate Security Act, we have a key opportunity to shape comprehensive climate legislation. Thank you for your work and all that you do to help end poverty and injustice.

Looking for a few good volunteers!

Help the Miami Oxfam Action Corps grow! We are looking for a meeting place that we can use to start monthly meetings for the Miami OAC. If you know of any locales that wouldn't mind us using their space, please email us! Anything from universities to fair trade coffee shops works.

We are also looking for:
1) More members! Please sign up for our email list and tell your friends, groups, co-workers, etc.

2) Events to table at such as art walks, outdoor/indoor events, farmer's markets, etc. anywhere we would be welcomed!

3) Help in organizing our own events (i.e.House parties, petition and letter writing drives, etc.)

4) Help in setting up lobby visits with our representatives or senators.

If you have some ideas or connections for any of these things, please let us know, so we can get moving!

We are the Miami Chapter of the Oxfam Action Corps which spreads over 13 States in the US. We are working to help people in poorer countries cope with the effects of Climate Change.

Climate Change will affect us all but the people in poorer nations have less impact on the effects of climate change but more consequences in the end.
